One guy here in Minnesota told me that a Crestliner Fish Hawk will actually attract walleye. Now I've been here for three days and my live well is still empty, so I don't know if that's true. But this 1750 Fish Hawk does have some features that will help a dedicated angler put fish in the boat.
Expert Interview with Steve Magers, Crestliner Boats
Now Steve all the new Fish Hawks have got this new console. Now I don't know what's made of, but it seems like pretty tough stuff. What is this?
Steve: This is a rotational molded plastic, that is UV stable and extremely durable. You have no issues with cracking like other materials, such as TPO, ABS, or even fiberglass.
And when you designed the shape, what did you have in mind?
Steve: What we were looking for was to give enough room for bigger, larger electronics. What we did was put a platform in front of the gauges, that allows you to put a round mount, and large electronics right in front of the driver.
Features
Now here's that live well, it hold 20 gallons. Still no fish. It's got a really large door, they make it as big as possible by putting the base for this fishing seat off center. The weight of the water in the live well compensates for having the fisherman off the center of the boat.
Another feature on the transom is the shape of the splash well. Previously, they'd cut this off square. By adding this little angle here you get a little bit more foot room back here.
Features up here on the bow include this 9'2" rod locker. It has a switch that turns on a light automatically, and it does lock.
It's got another live well, and lots of storage. Two big compartments. The feature I like up here is this detail on these plastic liners. This lip keeps rain water from getting in so your stuff stays dry.
Now this boat comes with this single console, and that gives you the most deck area. If you want more weather protection you can get dual consoles, and even dual consoles with a full windshield.
Performance
I think most fishermen would rather spend their money on bait than gasoline. With this Mercury 115HP four stroke, I can ride about 24 mph and still get better than 7 mpg. Top speed is 41.9 mph.
Wrap Up
Well, my live well is still empty. But that's not the fault of the 1750. Why would you consider this Crestliner? It's got solid all welded construction, excellent fit and finish, and features that were obviously designed by people who know the difference between fishing and catching. This is a great example of a Northwoods fishing boat.
